Working with Grant Funders

People sitting at a table, they share a thought bubble showing a bag of money.Government and grant funders grants and budget cuts has led to many groups, campaigns and projects led by people with learning difficulties are no longer being funded. At the same time Research institutions, big charities, services, initiatives and non-user led campaigns still get lots of money from Government and Grant Providers. This needs to stop.

Why are disabled people with learning difficulties being prevented from leading campaigns, projects and initiatives?

Easy Read summary - Disabled People's Leadership (by Simone Aspis) - Dr Rebecca Fish

We have worked with Grant Funders to look at the funding of projects, campaigns and groups led and controlled by us.

Jewish and Interfaith work

Seven main religious symbols

Disability and faith as positive intersectional identities have been overlooked by others. Disability is often viewed negativity within biblical text, religious teaching and practice. However, religious beliefs about disability can change if religions are open to view disability positively.

As a Jewish disabled activist, my disability politics inform my Judaism. I am Jewish and hold a Disability Justice view as one.

Star of David symbol

As an Alyth Gardens and Makor Hayim synagogue member I have led disability pride Shabbat services, Torah teachings and given sermons demonstrating how disability can be viewed positively during prayer, religious study and practice.

I am available for Jewish organisations (including synagogues) who would like to explore Judaism and Disability / social Justice.

We would welcome contact from interfaith or other single faith groups who are open to viewing disability in a positive way.
